Fishing Line Knots

Fishing line knots are your final attachment to your tackle or lure. You better have confidence in your fishing line knots or don’t put them in the water. There are many different fishing line knots but they all have one thing in common.

All fishing line knots need to be tied by the angler regularly and with no errors. There is an art to tying great fishing line knots that you can only get from practice, practice and more practice.  This art is well worth being very good at. Your fishing line knots are really going to be tested when the fish of a lifetime decides to come and test your angling skills and check you have tied your best.

There are plenty of difficult and complicated fishing line knots like the “uni knot”, “blood knot”, the “spider hitch” and even a “hangman’s knot”. All these fishing line knots have there purpose in the wonderful world of angling. They all keep you connected to the fish you have spent all your time and effort in actually getting to take your bait or lure. So you cannot let poorly tied fishing line knots ruin your chance at that trophy fish because who knows if you will ever get another chance?

Who doesn’t have a story of the fish that busted you off! Everyone has heard the one that got away as well. The moral to the story is to get your fishing line knots tied properly and tight. Who knows if the line broke or your fishing line knots came apart or your drag was set too tight? They could all happen at the same time if it is truly your unlucky day but don’t let it be by something you have control over.

Fishing line knots though are one variable that if you practice enough and tie the right one in the right situation should never be a part of the problem. The biggest mistakes you can make when tying fishing line knots is to rush and not tie the whole knot or to pull the fishing line knots too fast so you burn or fray the connection. The feeling you have in the stomach when you know it was your fishing line knots that cost you a great fish should be all the encouragement you need to make time to PRACTICE your fishing line knots!
